eBay Auction Tool Web Site Infected With Malware

A Trojan horse lurking on servers belonging to Auctiva.com, a Web site offering eBay auction tools, infected people’s PCs last week. The problem became very public when Google’s malware warning system kicked in as people tried to browse the site, saying Auctiva was infected with malware. Google will display an interstitial page warning people of certain Web sites known to contain malware.

Jo-Ann.com attracted 53% more traffic in December compared to a year earlier, Nielsen Online says. But the winner in traffic to home and garden shopping destinations was Home Depot, despite traffic dropping 5%. Meanwhile, although eBay Home was, as usual, a top traffic contender, its traffic fell a hefty 48%.

eBay Fraud: Hackers are stealing passwords using eBay’s messaging system

Be careful at times for people trying to steal your passwords. I have seen numerous spoof emails supposedly from “eBay” and “Paypal” that are pretty obvious fakes. This is the first time I have received one through eBay’s own messaging system. Most likely, the person I received the message from has had his or her own account hijacked.
