Facebook overtakes eBay to become 3rd top UK website
Social Media phenomenon, Facebook, has become the third most visited site in the UK and is closing in on second placed Hotmail, the online email service owned by Microsoft. According to internet monitoring company, Hitwise, Facebook received 2.75% of UK internet traffic last month beating eBay at 2.46%. The top site is, obviously, Google.

Internet marketing is also refereed to as eMarketing. It is simply marketing on the internet. The low cost of operating on the Internet, and the millions of people that can be reached in one day, has made the Internet one of the fastest growing markets today. It features all of the same goals and aspects of traditional brick and mortar marketing, but on a global scale. The internet marketing strategy consists of the following areas: online advertising, services, websites, market research, email marketing, and direct sales.
You should know that Internet Marketing consists of various business models. A business model can be broadly defined as a goal. The most popular form of internet marketing is ecommerce. This is basically you selling products directly to the consumer or business. There are an infinite number of Internet marketing business models that you can become involved in. One of the reasons why Internet marketing is becoming so popular is the large amount of information available. People log onto the Internet to learn about products and purchase them millions of times a day throughout the world. Another reason why Internet marketing is becoming popular is because it is so cost effective. You can get your name out on the Internet for a fraction of the price it would cost you to advertise in print or on TV and radio.
From music, banking, to flea markets, it’s hard to find an area that Internet marketing hasn’t had a profound impact on. Just consider how many people download music today rather than purchase CDs for example. Look at Banking, another industry that the Internet has affected. Banks are increasingly allowing their members to bank online by making deposits and paying bills, even balancing their checkbook.
Internet marketing has shaken the foundations of how commerce was usually operated. People no longer need to search out flea markets for great deals on rare merchandise. Instead, they can find whatever they’re looking for on the Internet, and at a discounted price to boot. Perhaps the website that has contributed the most to this phenomenon is eBay. eBay was on the cutting edge of online auction technology, and any other business that has tried to compete with them has failed. This is for the simple reason that when people are looking for a great deal or a rare item, they type in eBay. They don’t bother with some unknown site that hardly has anything.
Because eBay has had such a profound impact on the commerce market, most businesses must find a way to compete with the lower prices that eBay offers, or risk going out of business. Buyers will often first go to eBay to see what items are selling for before going to a department store or flea market. By doing this they can always make sure they are getting a good deal. As a result, the people who would have sold their items at a flea market in the past are now simply unloading their goods on eBay and saving time and effort.
