The move comes as an Australian eBay user has accused the site of allowing several instances of “shill bidding”, whereby fake accounts are used to drive up the price of items sold on the site.

The problem became very public when Google’s malware warning system kicked in as people tried to browse the site, saying Auctiva was infected with malware. Google will display an interstitial page warning people of certain Web sites known to contain malware.

The new program, Large Merchant Services, is still in the beta stage, according to eBay. It “provides an efficient way to process large numbers of transactions within the eBay Trading Platform.” It also offers inventory management based on SKU numbers.
