eBay power sellers: Amazon is kicking eBay’s tail
Three eBay power sellers are painting a mixed picture at best for the auction site and note that the recession and Amazon are thumping the company.
These eBay users say sales were down 12 percent to 20 percent from a year ago. Saxton, who resells refilled ink cartridges, said sales were up 15 percent.
It’s Craigslist Meets YouTube Meets eBay As Listasaurus.Com
Listasaurus.com, the first online classifieds site to pay users for listing their ads and one of the few to offer video classifieds, has just added auctions to their list of features, making it the first website to offer video auctions. Listasaurus.com offers standard classified listings like Craigslist, a Business Directory similar to the Yellow Pages, and now auction-style sales similar to eBay, all that allow video uploading capabilities like YouTube.

People log onto the Internet to learn about products and purchase them millions of times a day throughout the world. Another reason why Internet marketing is becoming popular is because it is so cost effective. You can get your name out on the Internet for a fraction of the price it would cost you to advertise in print or on TV and radio.
From music, banking, to flea markets, it’s hard to find an area that Internet marketing hasn’t had a profound impact on. Just consider how many people download music today rather than purchase CDs for example. Look at Banking, another industry that the Internet has affected. Banks are increasingly allowing their members to bank online by making deposits and paying bills, even balancing their checkbook.
Internet marketing has shaken the foundations of how commerce was usually operated. People no longer need to search out flea markets for great deals on rare merchandise. Instead, they can find whatever they’re looking for on the Internet, and at a discounted price to boot. Perhaps the website that has contributed the most to this phenomenon is eBay. eBay was on the cutting edge of online auction technology, and any other business that has tried to compete with them has failed. This is for the simple reason that when people are looking for a great deal or a rare item, they type in eBay. They don’t bother with some unknown site that hardly has anything.
Because eBay has had such a profound impact on the commerce market, most businesses must find a way to compete with the lower prices that eBay offers, or risk going out of business. Buyers will often first go to eBay to see what items are selling for before going to a department store or flea market. By doing this they can always make sure they are getting a good deal. As a result, the people who would have sold their items at a flea market in the past are now simply unloading their goods on eBay and saving time and effort.
Paypal Canada announces lower fees
Paypal Canada have just announced a fee cut for Canadian users. The fee has been cut from CA$0.55 to CA$0.30 per transaction for receiving funds. At the same time, the conversion rate for US Dollars to Canadian Dollars will be lowered for some.

Start-up hopes to outdo eBay with online market
Wigix Chief Executive James Chong is nothing if not ambitious: he thinks he’s got the recipe for an Internet marketplace that will rival eBay.
Chong, who was the architect of Charles Schwab’s online trading platform, believes eBay’s design is best suited to auctions of collectible, one-off items. But for those buying Sony PlayStations, digital cameras, or other mass-manufactured items, he thinks Wigix–”Want It Got It Exchange”–has the better approach.
